Yorkville Art Walk

Panel of seven images from recent Yorkville Art Walks

Welcome to a COOL (July) Art Walk!

If you were caught in this week's "baby blackout" in Toronto you are probably looking for some COOL things to do. Why not join us this Thursday, July 8th, and spend some time with some COOL art and COOL artists? A great example is the work "BUFFER in blush" installed at GCBespoke. This whimsical, "art in motion" device is guaranteed to make an observer standing within 3 feet of it feel cooler. (See image below.)  Starting the walk in the air-conditioned Hazelton Lanes mall and finishing at the Coffee Mill will also help your comfort level.

This month's Yorkville Art Walk will have the largest number (twelve artists) of exhibiting artists present for any Art Walk this year.  There will be a total of six galleries on this month's walk. The participating galleries are:

  • GCBespoke
  • Hollander York Gallery
  • Ingram Gallery
  • Leonardo Galleries
  • Liss Gallery
  • Odon Wagner Gallery

Exhibiting artists, or their representatives, will be on-site and available for a "meet and greet" at:
* GCBespoke (Giani Tariello and Camal Pirbhai)
* Ingram Gallery (Sara Sniderhan. Bonus: Hear Sara's excellent presentation on "self portraiture".)

Hollander York Gallery (Russell Brohier,  Alex D’arcy, James Robert Durant, Hanna Kostanski, Jennifer Leo, Katsutoshi Yuasa, Oliver Goldsmith)
* Leonardo Galleries (Albert de Vos, Gabriele Craig)

You are welcome to check this web page up to July 8th for any last minute changes.

If this is your first time attending, you will find the monthly Yorkville Art Walk an ideal opportunity to view and consider a wide range of quality originals from exceptional artists. Guests will see a broad range of styles and media with something for everyone.  If you want to get some fresh air and meet the artists join us for the walk. This is a great opportunity to meet many outstanding artists, discover Yorkville’s art galleries and find that perfect piece you have been looking for!

See "Itinerary" below for details.

Background Overview

A highly informative monthly tour takes place in the Yorkville Art Gallery district, giving newcomers and regular attendees a focused overview of the Yorkville art scene. This informal, free tour begins by gathering at the Rotunda (lower level) in the Hazelton Lanes Mall, opposite Browns’ Shoe Store. The attendees split into two or three smaller groups which visit selected area galleries during the evening. Each small group is led by a tour guide who is familiar with art appreciation and the local art scene. Some of the galleries may have featured artists present for the tour. A wide range of Contemporary or Historical Canadian and International works of art are available for viewing. At the end of the evening attendees may join the group for coffee at a local area café. The Artsgroup hopes you will consider this event for your calendar.
