Welcome to the July Art Walk!
The first official Art Walk of the summer is always a popular event with the usual combination of holidays and warm weather. It could be called the "Canada Day" walk this year since it is timed one day after the Canada Day celebrations of July 1st. This month's walk in Yorkville is set for Thursday, July 2/09. However, it would be a good idea to bring an umbrella since there is a chance of rain in the evening.
A number of exhibiting artists will be in attendance for this month's Art Walk: John Coburn (Beckett Fine Art); Dominque Leroy Prince (Gallery Hittite); Elizabeth Jaworski (Hollander York Gallery); Suzanne Gardner (Impressions Gallery); Rita Vindedzis (Leonardo Galleries) and Dominique Prince (Gallery Hittite). This is subject to change up to the date of the Art Walk.
Please note that there will be no "Globe ad" for the month of August but there will still be an August Art Walk, scheduled for Thursday, August 6/09.
If this is your first time attending, you will find the monthly Yorkville Art Walk an ideal opportunity to view and consider a wide range of quality originals from exceptional artists. Guests will see a broad range of styles and media with something for everyone. If you want to get some fresh air and meet the artists join us for the walk. You may just find that perfect piece you have been looking for!
See "Itinerary" below for details.
NOTE: This month's update does not include the customary image previews. Please see the individual web site gallery links below for current images and information about exhibitions or receptions. Image previews will resume for the August Art Walk.
A highly informative monthly tour takes place in the Yorkville Art Gallery district, giving newcomers and regular attendees a focused overview of the Yorkville art scene. This informal, free tour begins by gathering at the Rotunda (lower level) in the Hazelton Lanes Mall, opposite Browns’ Shoe Store. The attendees split into two or three smaller groups which visit selected area galleries during the evening. Each small group is led by a tour guide who is familiar with art appreciation and the local art scene. Some of the galleries may have featured artists present for the tour. A wide range of Contemporary or Historical Canadian and International works of art are available for viewing. At the end of the evening attendees may join the group for coffee at a local area café. The Artsgroup hopes you will consider this event for your calendar.
Location: Start at Hazelton Lanes Mall, 55 Avenue Rd., Toronto, Ontario
Meet on the lower level, opposite Brown’s Shoe Store in the open seating area, at the bottom of the staircase to the 2nd floor.
