19th CENTURY ENGLISH PAINTING

This series contains so much new material it’s difficult at this point to produce a week-by-week schedule. I’ll know when I get there, so you could phone or email me closer to a specific date if you need more information.
We’ll begin with three perennial stars, Lawrence, Constable and Turner. A general introduction to Victorian art will introduce you to such maligned talents as Edwin Landseer. The Pre-Raphaelites have also enjoyed a recent revival, among them Brown, Millais, Holman Hunt, Rossetti and Burne-Jones. Later Victorians who created works of remarkable beauty include Moore, Waterhouse, Leighton and Alma-Tadema.
