Interpretation: Dark sea swirls with a sharp edginess

Although Karen Lefave's mantra has been to "burn the little black dress", black is not a forbidden colour in her designs. Storm takes its inspiration for the cold stormy Atlantic off the Gaspe coast. Dark sea swirls with a sharp edginess adorn the painted black stretch velour. Strong sliming lines of gray duchess silk, pale green silk dupioni, moss green silk dupioni and black silk organza contrast with the softly curved neckline/collar combination to produce a dramatic effect.

As with all Lefave Haute Couture gowns, inner details are attributed the same importance. With Storm, this is evident as the high slit at the front reveals ribbed detail inside the gown, which is fully lined with dupioni and organza. This inner design is brought to the surface for a reverse facing effect. The low cut back is partially obscured with black silk organza as dark mist hovers over a turbulent sea below.
